Amber Sinton

Position: Freshwater Technician
Qualification: MSc (honours)

Expertise
Freshwater invertebrate-habitat relationships
Freshwater invertebrate identification
Field work implementation

Regularly pushing her comfort zone climbing mountains and riding Port Hills’ single track, Amber’s work at EOS allows her to push her cerebral skills by applying her MSc.

Specialising in freshwater invertebrates, Amber’s role involves assisting with field research design, managing and implementing field programmes, processing samples, and maintaining EOS Ecology’s ever-growing reference collection.

“I really enjoy the fact that with this job I get to put into practice all the things I learnt at uni and it’s in the field I’m interested in. Plus, it has been very satisfying (although admittedly a bit geeky) to see my taxonomy skills improve during my time here.”

Interesting Titbit
Excited to have finally graduated university after spending six long years studying, Amber now intends to focus her learning in different directions – such as fixing her car unaided and mastering the art of river kayaking.
