An article detailing the find of a new species of worm within the streams and tarns of Campbell Island has been published in the NZ Journal of Zoology.
The worm, Macquaridrilus McMurtrie, has been named after EOS Ecology’s senior scientist Shelley McMurtrie, who led the freshwater team that made the discovery during the Campbell Island Bicentennial Expedition 2010.
The article is available online; written by Adrian Pinder, Senior Research Scientist from Western Australia's Dept Parks and Wildlife, and EOS Ecology’s Alex James.
For those who want to know more about the freshwater invertebrates of Campbell Island, the release of the Campbell Island invertebrate key is due out this year.
