The Ararira Catchment Management Plan is out, and we're excited!

The Ararira Catchment Management Plan and Implementation Guide are now complete, and we’re thrilled to announce their official handover! On April 28, 2024, at a ceremony held near a key spring source in the Ararira catchment, the project team presented these guiding documents to Selwyn District Council and Te Taumutu Rūnanga. It was a memorable event with local students from Ararira Springs Primary School joining us, as they’ve been connecting with and learning about their local Ararira awa through our ‘Nature Agents’ programme.

In partnership with Aqualinc and Cawthron, EOS Ecology was responsible for leading the development of the Catchment Management Plan (CMP), while Aqualinc led the Implementation Guide (IG). This project brought together a collaborative team, including Selwyn District Council, Te Taumutu Rūnanga, LII Drainage Committee, Living Water (a Fonterra and DOC initiative), Environment Canterbury, and Learning for Sustainability, each contributing unique expertise and insights.

Working on this co-designed CMP has been a truly rewarding experience, and we’re honoured to be part of such an impactful, collaborative approach to catchment management. Read more about the Ararira CMP.
